The Structural Materials Centre at DRA is researching a wide range of smart technologies such as passive self-sensing of damage in composites, active noise and vibration control, and shape-adaptive composites. Its work is demonstrated by describing an animated model dragonfly, exhibited at the Second European Conference on Smart Structures and Materials, incorporating piezoelectric ceramics and shape memory alloys. |
