In April 2002, Daido Institute of Technology initiated the School of Informatics to become a university from a single-department institute, previously consisting of only the School of Engineering. The School of Informatics accepts not only students with science and math majors but also students with various other interests, and plans to graduate all of them as professionals in informatics.

Daido Institute of Technology has a history of 63 years, which goes back to Fukuzawa Momosuke, the son-in-law of Fukuzawa Yukichi. Momosuke is a historic figure who is known as the 'electricity magnate' from his success in the electricity, gas, and railway industries.

In December, 2000, the new Takiharu Campus was completed in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the university. This new campus holds the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Mechanical System Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, and Computer Science and Art. In March 2002, the Hakusui Campus, in which the departments of Architecture, and Civil Engineering and Environmental Design are located, was refurbished. These two campuses are only a 3-minuite walk apart.
Since its foundation, Daido Institute of Technology has aggressively developed strong ties with local communities and companies, which is our greatest feature. As a result, DU today has come to be seen as a mecca of joint industry-university research in central Japan.

The goal of Daido Institute of Technology is to develop competent personnel who are in strong demand within a variety of companies and industries. DU receives the highest rate of job offers from companies amongst private universities in the Chubu area. In fact, 100% of our students have obtained jobs despite the current severe economy. This proves that DU has always met the various needs of society.

Today, I put most of my effort into educational reform. I believe that making this university a place where students can enjoy themselves and eagerly learn more is true educational reform. We are determined to make our utmost efforts to be an education-oriented university, respecting students' viewpoints.

I would like to ask for your continued support of our university.
